Trishuli River Rafting

Kirong Tsangpo originated in the autonomous region of Tibet is another trans-boundary river further known as Trishuli once entered Nepal border. The river carries religious value and it is amongst the holiest river   in the country, representing a deity Lord. Shiva. It is believed that lord Shiva while on his hibernation in the mountains rested at a place with his weapon “Trident” on the ground, since then the opening from release of the trident created 3 springs now famous as the pilgrimage of “Gosainkunda” is believed to be the source of Trishuli river.

Flowing down from the height of Tibet through world’s deepest gorges making steep falls several times makes Trishuli a river in Nepal with enormous current at a very raw state. The tides are untamed and very adventurous. Trishuli is tamed during dry season that’s when rafting is performed at its best, even in a dry season when the flow is way below what its capacity is in the monsoon the river provides vigor in extreme sports like Rafting. In the monsoon the river is so wild and untamed that it tends to destroy everything on its path and rafting is prohibited due to safety concerns.

Trishuli is the favorite amongst the rivers in Nepal for rafting because of its accessibility which is centrally located along Prithivi Highway which is a major highway connecting cities to Kathmandu. Not only Trishuli is favorite rafting river because it is centrally located but also because of its exiting rapids and interesting gorges. The river has some calmer sections as well where experts begin the raft by doing some drills with the whole team before shooting to thrills.

Along with the river depending upon the raft duration we explore different communities living side by side with the river and highway. The vegetation around the river attracts many plant lovers for this extreme sports and the local food including freshly made rice, lentils, vegetables along with the choice of some chicken and mutton feels like a reward after long day of paddling through tides of Trishuli. Trishuli is one of the best experiences a person can have in Nepal.
