Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Annapurna is a section of the Himalayas in the north central Nepal. The section or the range includes Annapurna I (8,091m) and thirteen additional peaks over 7,000 m and in addition over 16 mountains above 6,000 m. Annapurna Base Camp Trek is truly majestic and is considered a world-class alpine paradise trek in the Annapurna Region encompassing some peaks like Hiuchuli,  and Poon Hill which are famous amongst the tourists.

This trekking route peaks to an altitude of 4150m and is designed for nature-lovers, backpackers, and trekkers who enjoys the existence of rare and native flora and fauna. The entire Annapurna massif of 7,620 square km offers panoramic view of the Himalayan range.

The Annapurna Base Camp Trekking designed and offered by Silver Mountain Adventure features spectacular mountain scenery throughout, the trek in addition highlights on familiarizing with quaint indigenous Gurung settlements, their distinctive slated roof housing, their culture and lifestyle.  

On the natural side flowers alone is reason enough to make this trek through deep sub-tropical valleys a trek to leave a profound impression on minds for long period of time.  The presence of amazing rhododendron forests on the either sides of the trail with every hue of red, rose, apricot and crimson helps soothe and relax the exertion of the trek.

On the laps of Annapurna and Dhualagiri Himalaya range, lies Ghorepani Poon hill (3210m) which is highly acclaimed for its sunrise, it is known and rated to be one of the best spots in the altitude for the finest extensive view of sunrise and the Himalayas. The Poon hill (3210m) and Annapurna base camp (4230m) are the main attraction of this moderate grade trek with tea house lodging as side attraction.  This trek is considered to be one of the safest treks and also less risky. The trek is aimed for guests with any fitness levels who loves walking in the nature.

There are two best known and practiced season in a year to Annapurna Base Camp. The first season starts from the month of March and extends up to May and the second season starts in September and ends with the end of November. The trek to Annapurna Base Camp only during spring season offers the mystical Rhododendron sighting while in the trek. During a time in the year while in monsoon between June to August the trek is not advised due to safety concerns.

Details Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
On this day you arrive to Kathmandu and we transfer you to your hotel or hostel. On this day you rest and rejuvenate of days to come.

Day 02: Sightseeing and making ready of permits
On this day we get busy with couple of things; one making required permits for your trekking and two taking you out for sightseeing. While our back office staff get ready preparing permits from the government offices, our guides help you get acquainted with the country by taking you to different heritages.

Day 03: Bus to Pokhara

On this day we have our breakfast by 6:00 a.m. in the morning and head towards tourist Bus Park at Thamel and board a tourist bus to Pokhara. The bus ride will take around 7 hours through curvy roads of hilly terrain with couple of breaks in between for snacks and lunch. The drive to Pokhara on one of the major highways is exhilarating with beautiful views of never leaving tributaries, lush green hills and road side settlements.

Day 04: Drive to Nayapul and trek to Ghandruk
On this day we wake up early to have our breakfast by 7:00 a.m. and board car, van or bus; according to our comfort and preference, by 8:00 a.m. and drive for around 1 hour and 30 minutes to Nayapul. We unload our luggage and cross the rustic bridge of Modi khola and walk for about 15 minutes to Birethanti and get our permits checked. After hiking approximately 1 hour on jeep track along Modi Khola to Syaule Bazaar, we take remarkably paved stone trail for around 5 hours to reach Ghandruk. We get exposed to the beautiful Gurung community their stone slated houses and beautiful Himalayan culture.

Day 05: Ghandruk to Chomrong

After having our breakfast at 7:00 a.m. we begin our trek. Today we make couple of ascend and descend through small patches of villages and seasonal crops on terrace land. Today’s trek can be described as effortless, walking through the rustic suspension and wooden log bridges, except for the final 2 hours hike to Chomrong. At Chomrong we call it a day, where awaits closer and better view of mountains Hiunchuli, Machapuchhre and Annapurna South.

Day 06: Chomrong to Himalaya
Today as well we begin our day after having breakfast at 7:00 a.m. We commence our day at Chomrong to Himalaya and on this day we steadily ascend and spend majority of trails through lush green Rhododendron forest. Except for couple of steep ascend and descend the trail is not very demanding. On this day we make our way through small streams, suspension bridges and small patches of villages. This section Annapurna Base Camp trek is well known for witnessing of wild animals as well.

Day 07: Himalaya to Machhapuchhre Base Camp

After having our breakfast at 7 a.m. at Himalaya we head towards Machhpuchhre Base Camp. We start the day by hiking a pleasant ascend, making our way through streams and falls until a steep ascend to Hinku and further small but steep hike to Deurali. After Deurali the trail is more relaxed but undergoes one of the most adventurous section being it prone to avalanche. The most beautiful and majestic views waits at the Machhapuchhre base camp. On this day we start to feel the effect of altitude and this day can be also taken as acclimatization day.  

Day 08: MBC to ABC
We begin our day after having our breakfast at 7 a.m. at MBC and make our way to Annapurna Base Camp. We take a short walk on the trail in between Hiunchuli and the glacier of the mountains in the area. We trek for around 4 hours to the maximum. We call it a day at Annapurna base camp and relax in the serene ambiance, on the laps of Himalayas. This trek although is not strenuous is considered to be slightly technical because of altitude.

Day 09: ABC to Bamboo
After taking breakfast at regular time, we trek the same route to Annapurna base camp on the previous day. We first head to MBC followed by Deurali, Himalaya, Dovan and finally Bamboo. We descend for almost 7 hours until we reach Bamboo and the descend is painless. As every day we take frequent breaks in between the initial point and final destination. After a long day on trails we rest at a tea house in Bamboo.

Day 10: Bamboo to Jhinu dada
Down through the rivers, crossing streams and bridges and steep uphill for almost 1 hour, we enjoy majority of our trails through lush green forest. Most of this days walk is on flat trails with gentle up’s and down’s except for one final steep climb for half an hour to Chomrong. We take steep trail downwards from Chomrong to Jhinu danda where waits natural hot springs.  We have possibility of enjoying the natural hot springs and rejuvenating for the rest of our journey.  

Day 11: Jhinu dada to Nayapul to pokhara
From Jhinu Danda the trails are easier, ascend and descend is very effortless. We make our way through rustic bridges, patch of villages and jeep tracks. We finally checkout from ACAP at Birethati and walk around 15 minutes to Nayapul At Nayapul we board our vehicle and drive an hour back to Pokhara. By the time we reach Pokhara it is around 5, we can enjoy walking around the Phewa lake or rest, as per our preference.

Day 12: Pokhara to Kathmandu
On this day we have our breakfast by 6:00 a.m. in the morning and head towards tourist Bus Park and board a tourist bus back to Kathmandu. The bus ride will take around 7 hours through curvy roads of hilly terrain with couple of breaks in between for snacks and lunch.

Day 13: Farewell Dinner
On this day the entire team of Silver Mountain adventure and the guests will have time together relax and talk over the dinner. This dinner signifies end of the trip in Nepal but not our relationship.
